Free and open to the public, Artscape is held outdoors in tents, and inside the neighborhood’s premier exhibition spaces and performing arts venues. The event is handicapped accessible. 
 
Description:                  
America’s largest free arts festival, Artscape features 150+artists, fashion designers and craftspeople, including DIY/new wave crafters; visual art exhibits on and off site, such as outdoor sculpture, art cars, photography and the Janet & Walter Sondheim Artscape Prize; incredible live concerts on four outdoor stages; a full schedule of performing arts including dance, opera, theater, fashion, film, experimental music and performances by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra; family events such as hands-on projects, demonstrations, jazz vocal and combo competitions, children’s entertainers and multiple street theater locations; and a delicious, international menu of food and beverages available throughout the site.

Funding:
Artscape is produced by The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts, Inc., a 501(c)3, non-profit.  Funding for the festival is provided by the generous support of our exhibitors and concessionaires (41%), sponsors (31%) and grantors (28%).  Artscape also depends on the support of the City of Baltimore, hundreds of volunteers and in-kind donations to keep the festival FREE and open to the public.

Guest Services Tent

New this year, the Guest Services Tent is the place to stop for merchandise, advance tickets to free indoor performances, accessibility information and more.  The air-conditioned tent is located in front of the Lyric on Mount Royal Avenue. 

Festival-goers may reserve seats the day of the show for dance, opera and theater performances.  Passes can be picked up at the Guests Services Tent.  Limit four free tickets per guest.

SPECIAL: PENN DRIVE TRAFFIC CHUTE

Once Charles Street closes, a traffic chute will be created, using cones and barricades, when the festival is not open to vendors setting up/breaking down, or the public.  This will allow vehicles from Penn Drive to access the I-83 Ramp although they will not be allowed to turn right onto Charles Street.

The chute will be open:
• Thursday, July 15 at 12am through Friday, July 16 at 8am
• Friday, July 16 at 11pm through Saturday, July 17 at 10:30am
• Saturday, July 17 at 11pm through Sunday, July 18 at 10:30am

Friday, July 16 at 9am through Monday, July 19 at 6am
• B/S 1300-1800 blocks of Maryland Avenue, closed from North Avenue to Preston Street (including Maryland Avenue ramp off I-83). Please post “Local Traffic Only & Parking for the Fitzgerald Garage” at North Avenue (local traffic can not proceed past Lafayatte; garage traffic can  proceed)

• Maryland Avenue temporarily becomes two-way from Oliver Street to North Avenue.  Northbound traffic will need assistance (STEOs and/or temporary sign) – RIGHT TURN ONLY at North Avenue

• Intersection of Mt. Royal Avenue and Maryland Avenue – closed until Monday at 6am

W/S Angle parking on Maryland Avenue bridge - from Lanvale Street to Oliver Street – Please post “Angle Parking Only” on the Maryland Avenue Bridge west side
(Artscape Festival Parking - only Artscape parking permits OK)

• B/S 100 block of West Preston Street closed, from Maryland Avenue to Cathedral Street.  Please note: vehicle access for 1311 Cathedral Street for garage patrons all hours of the festival.  Please post “Meyerhoff Garage Access only” signs.  The garage will be open to festival-goers, exhibitors, etc.

Angle parking on Biddle Street behind the Meyerhoff for festival exhibitors and performers (Artscape Festival Parking - only Artscape parking permits OK)

• 2-way traffic on 1200 block of Biddle Street behind the Meyerhoff for Symphony Center; garage access only

Sunday, July 18 (9am-12pm)
• Greek Church traffic directed off I-83 South to St. Paul; right on Preston; wrong way on Maryland Ave. into church parking lot
