BUENA VISTA – Directed by Zoe Friedman (Local Film)
This animation is a celebration of love. It was created by printing out individual frames of a video and having my family and friends draw all over them. I recorded sound on a trip to Mexico.

THE WHEEL TURNS – Directed by Sang Joon Kim
The jaded subway operator in NYC finds his life repetitive and tedious. Once he and fellow passengers turn into toads, the operator explores through portals to find what causes the transformation.

THE MOON'S MILK – Directed by Ri Crawford
Set between the gravities of two heavenly bodies, The Moon’s Milk is a handmade stop motion short about a time when the moon was close enough to be reached by ladder. Longing, missed signals, and mishaps lead to the enchantment of the heavens with music.

Two middle-aged dads just want to spend a quiet day with their daughters at the park. But when an obnoxious group of teens drive by, too fast and too loud, it spurs these aging, disgruntled dads into a self-righteous act of passive-aggression.

THE FRENCH TOAST MAN -  Directed by Alix Tobey Southwick and Skizz Cyzyk (Local Film) Rev. Fred Lane’s classic children’s tale, about a man who delivers French toast to neighborhood children, is brought to life as an animated musical storybook.

1PM - 2:30PM Animations on the Big Screen Animations on the Big Screen is a 1.5 hour program of animated short films hosted by the Parkway Theater on Sunday, July 21 at 1pm & 3pm. Animations on the Big Screen was curated by local filmmaker Corrie Francis Parks. Parks is an assistant professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County where she teaches animation. Parks specializes in sand animation and other esoteric animation techniques. Her work maintains an organic connection to natural materials and traditional production methods while fully integrating digital technology. Parks’ book, Fluid Frames: Experimental Animation with Sand, Clay, Paint, and Pixels, was published in 2016. Her award-winning films have also been included in festivals on every continent except Antarctica.
