The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts (BOPA) applications are now closed for Artscape 2020. Applications have been received in the areas of visual, performing, literary and culinary arts, family-friendly programming, community engagement and neighborhood businesses

VISUAL ARTS
The Artists' Market is a highly competitive and independently juries market that encourages participation from artists, with original works, of all disciplines to apply. The Artists’ Market is expanding to three different areas of the festival this year with one area designated as The Maryland Makers Market.The Maryland Makers Market at Artscape is a program that provides a space in the Artists’ Market at no charge for emerging regional and local artists who are first time festival participants.

Large Scale Outdoor Sculpture & Installations are invited. Artists and artist collaboratives can propose large scale outdoor sculptures or installation-based artworks for creation at Artscape, Baltimore’s highly anticipated summer arts festival. Works should be visually compelling through design, color, and scale, and be interactive wherever possible.

Artists and filmmakers are welcome to submit works for consideration to be included in Animations on the Big Screen at the Parkway Theater , an exhibition of time-based media content that explores the range and diversity of traditional and experimental forms of animated short films.

Submit existing artworks or proposals for new works to be included in the exhibition Lawn Games . To be hosted outdoors on the Maryland Institute College of Art’s (MICA) Cohen Plaza, Lawn Games seeks interactive artworks that are reinterpretations of the classic outdoor games played in backyards and playgrounds each summer. Artists are encouraged to think broadly, either literally or abstractly, in their interpretation of this exhibition topic.

Baltimore high school student artists can compete in The Fred Lazarus IV Artscape Prize that seeks to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the city.

Gamescape showcases games and the creative people who make them. Developers are invited to promote their work through providing demos of their games, to hundreds of thousands of Artscape festivalgoers. Any game developer is eligible to apply. Developers are encouraged to submit games for any platform (including non-digital games). NEW for 2020, Gamescape includes the Game Art Gallery , a visual arts exhibition of game-inspired works of art provided by local artists. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Submissions will be curated and reviewed by the IGDA Baltimore.

PERFORMING ARTS
Performing Arts (includes indoor venues, street theater, pop ups/strolling, and kids performances) - The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts welcomes all performing artists, performing arts collectives, and performance artists to propose performing arts pieces to be featured at Artscape. Proposals including but not limited to genres in dance, performance art, living sculpture, music, fashion, storytelling, and poetry will be considered. Pieces should be fresh, creative, family friendly and suitable for outdoor weather.

LITERARY ARTS
The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts invites artists, authors and artist collectives who create books, prints, multiples and other editions to participate in the Artist Prints & Book Fair . In addition to exhibitors, this fair will host a program of speakers, performance artworks, panel discussions and workshops.

CULINARY ARTS
Local and regional Food Vendors are encouraged to submit an application to showcase their menus as a feature of the festival’s 2020 Culinary Arts program.

NEW! The Culinary Arts sizzle on the Art of Food Stage . Poised at the intersection of health and art, festival goers can sample and take home nutritious recipes to feed their body and soul! Baltimore-based foodies, chefs and restaurateurs are encouraged to submit an application for demonstrations on this outdoor stage.

FAMILY-FRIENDLY PROGRAMS
Kidscape , the festival's children's area, showcases family-friendly organizations and entertainers with fun craft ideas, hands-on activities and workshops, demonstrations, and creative dance and/or music performances. Non-Profit Arts/Cultural and Educational Organizations passionate about the arts and youth in Baltimore are encouraged to apply.

Teenscape is for Baltimore City teen makers, speakers, bands, musicians and organizations passionate about the arts who wish to participate at Artscape. Proposals including but not limited to genres in music, dance, performance art, storytelling, poetry, and more will be considered. Pieces should be fresh, creative, family-friendly. *** Note: The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts considers teen performers to be between the ages of 13 and 19 ***

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Non-Profit Arts have an opportunity to participate in Artscape by actively engaging with festival-goers and providing guests with a memorable and exceptional experience.

City Agencies have an opportunity to participate in Artscape by actively engaging with festival-goers and providing resources to city residents and visitors.

Artscape Network New this year, citywide organizations hosting events and activities during the month of July may submit an application to be included in the Artscape Network. Cultural organizations, arts institutions, nonprofit organizations, small businesses, retail stores, restaurants, and nightlife venues showcase one of four artistic disciplines (visual arts, performing arts, literary arts, culinary arts) are encouraged to apply.
