Main Stage at MICA

Attention Campers! Artscape, America’s largest free arts festival invites artists and vendors to apply for its 36th year, July 21-23, 2017. This year’s theme is “Camp Artscape: Adventure Awaits.” For many, one of the most exciting parts of summer is taking time to engage in new experiences. Whether at an away camp or a local summer program, it’s something to look forward to all year—truly a staple of the summer season. The same goes for Artscape; it’s just not summer without it! The theme allows all involved to step out of their comfort zone, learn something new, and experience the adventure that awaits in Baltimore.

Fred Lazarus IV Artscape Prize (“The Fred”)
“The Fred” awards $1,000 to a high school student artist living or going to school in Baltimore City as well as a stipend to produce a solo exhibition, with mentorship from BOPA staff, to be on display at the 36th annual Artscape. Applicants must be high school students at the time of application submission. The deadline for submissions is Sunday, April 30, 2017.

BOPA will be conducting three workshops to help teens create a portfolio for submission:

1. Thursday, April 20, 2017; 3:00pm - 6:00 pm at Benjamin Franklin High School (1201 Cambria Street)

In The Neighborhood
Artscape is now accepting applications from businesses and organizations in the Bolton Hill, Midtown and Station North Arts and Entertainment district who are offering a unique experience for festival-goers. Proposals that both literally or conceptually include the theme of camp are encouraged. The deadline for submissions is Friday, May 19, 2017.

Attention Musicians/Bands:
Applications for emerging musicians/bands interested in performing at one of our 2017 festivals are now closed. If you are an emerging musician/band and are interested in applying to perform at one of our 2018 festivals, please check back in May 2017, when the Sound Off Live! applications will be posted.

The Sound Off Live! application is for emerging musicians/bands interested in performing at one of our three festivals (Light City, Artscape, and Baltimore Book Festival). Sound Off Live! is a special event, which takes place in October, where emerging musicians/bands selected from the application process perform live in front of a panel of judges, to possibly earn a performance spot (concert stage performances) in one of our three festivals for the following year.

If you are not interested in Sound Off Live! and would like to be considered for Artscape 2017, please email Shelia Goodwin.
